Justice Armstrong was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and President of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal in October 2018.

Prior to her judicial appointment, Justice Armstrong served for over three years as NSW’s first female Crown Solicitor, with over 25 years’ experience in government and commercial law.

Before her appointment as Crown Solicitor, Justice Armstrong worked as NSW Treasury’s first General Counsel. Earlier in her career, Justice Armstrong served in a range of senior roles in the Crown Solicitor’s Office, including as General Counsel and as an Assistant Crown Solicitor in commercial law and in administrative law. She also worked in a large commercial law firm, then Blake Dawson Waldron Solicitors.

She has tutored in constitutional law at the Australian National University and worked as an Associate to the Hon. Michael McHugh AC QC whilst he served as Justice of the High Court of Australia.
