Nicole Burns
Senior Member, Administrative Review Tribunal
Over the past 17 years Nicole Burns has been a decision maker in diverse statutory contexts at both state and federal levels in Australia. Presently as a Senior Member at the Administrative Review Tribunal, leading the Malaysia list in the Protection jurisdiction area, based in Melbourne. Nicole joined the Migration and Refugee Review Tribunal as a part time member in 2007.
The state level positions she has held include as a Community Member with the Adult Parole Board of Victoria, and a Deputy Chair of the Patient Review Panel, considering matters related to accessing assisted reproductive treatment.
Previously Nicole worked for over 10 years in international development for the Australian government, non-government organisations, and the United Nations. This included five years in Indonesia and three years in Sri Lanka.
With respect to her studies Nicole undertook a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in international law.
