Claire Bennett is a Member Lead at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. As a Chartered Professional Engineer and specialist engineering member she presides over complex civil, planning and environment matters. She chairs the VCAT AI Committee, sits on the Courts Services Victoria Digital Innovation and AI Committee, and serves on the COAT AI Sub-committee — providing a cross-jurisdictional perspective on AI strategy, risk and policy development across Australia’s courts and tribunals. She also serves on VCAT’s Digital Case Management System Program Board, overseeing tribunal-wide digital transformation. Before joining VCAT, she spent over a decade as a Principal Engineer at AECOM delivering major infrastructure projects, including Melbourne’s Metro Tunnel, and was the director of a digital education company. Claire is a guest lecturer at Deakin University and regular presenter on the ethical application of AI in justice across national and state forums.
