Matthew Carroll
President, Mental Health Tribunal
Matthew was appointed President of the former Victorian Mental Health Review Board and Chairperson of the Psychosurgery Review Board in 2010. Immediately prior to taking up these appointments, he was principal lawyer and manager of the Human Rights Unit at the Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission.
Upon commencement of Victoria’s previous Mental Health Act in July 2014 Matthew became President of the Mental Health Tribunal. Matthew has previously held appointments to other tribunals and boards in the health and human services sector, including as a community member of the Intellectual Disability Review Panel, and Deputy Chairperson of the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority.
