Lauren Stefanou
Managing Solicitor, NSW Justice Projects, Aboriginal Legal Service NSW/ACT
Lauren Stefanou is the Managing Solicitor of NSW Justice Projects at the Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT). In this role, she is responsible for implementing and overseeing new, holistic service delivery models within the ALS criminal law practice.
As a criminal lawyer at the ALS, she has appeared for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in the Children’s, Local and District Courts of NSW. She has also volunteered as a solicitor in minor crime, police accountability and administrative law at Redfern Legal Centre. Prior to commencing legal practice, Lauren worked in the media for 10 years, primarily in public broadcasting. Lauren is also a Teaching Fellow in the Faculty of Law and Justice at UNSW.
Lauren has been a member of the Bugmy Bar Book Project Committee since 2018 and has played a central role in developing the project’s research, review and editorial processes.
