The Honourable Justice Peter Applegarth AM
Judge at the Supreme Court of Queensland
Justice Applegarth graduated from the Universities of Queensland and Oxford and was at the Bar from 1986 until 2008. Before being appointed to the Supreme Court of Queensland, he served on an Expert Panel about the formation of QCAT. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and chairs the Queensland Law Reform Commission.
Justice Applegarth presides over complex trials. His research interests include decision-making in conditions of uncertainty. His work includes “Deciding Novel and Routine Cases without Evidence” in the prestigious US publication, Torts Law Journal.
In 2020 Justice Applegarth became a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to law, the judiciary and social justice.
