Computation now fundamentally underpins the majority of internationally competitive research across all fields and disciplines. As the demand for computational skills has grown, so too has the need for a dedicated institute that can support the research community.
The Curtin Institute for Computation has five themes – big data analytics, simulation, modelling and optimisation, visualisation and education. The Curtin Institute for Computation, comprising of over 171 researchers, was established to meet this increasing demand for these themes. The CIC initiates and fosters collaborative, interdisciplinary research and education programs with researchers.
Our computational specialists assist in applying computational methods across the sciences, engineering, social sciences, health science, business, and the humanities to provide innovative solutions to complex problems. The Curtin Institute for Computation runs regular events, from professional development to guest researcher seminars. Furthermore, the CIC conducts training ranging from – Software Carpentry, data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Research undertaken by the Curtin Institute for Computation has been utilised in a number of industries across Australia including – oil and gas, agricultural services, cloud consultancies, data analytics corporations and hospitals.
